The Race: Downtown Walterboro Criterium

The Course: 25 laps, 4 right turns

The Field: Pro 1/2/3 women

The Finish: 26th

I felt tired and flat going into the race, but once we got started, I came around and had a good time. The course was bumpy and the last two corners before the start/finish stretch were tight and slowed the field a lot, but I…suddenly have no motivation to write this race report. None. Let’s wrap this up quickly.

Highlight of the race: Leading the field for nearly a full lap and almost winning a prime (darn LVG and her awesome speed putting me into second in the sprint to the line).

Lowlight of the race: Pain in my left foot and an ongoing argument between my saddle and tender parts.

Moving forward: I need to work on riding comfortably and consistently towards the front of the peloton. I can get there but I often can’t merge smoothly into the group, and even when I do, I can only keep my position there for a short time. Still need more practice, I suppose.

  1. Jesus, with the effort you guys are putting in, it is hard to believe you have the energy to write anything at all. I wonder just how many kilojoules you will have expended by the time the odyssey is over. I’m sure those kits still smell like lilacs, though.

  2. May I suggest getting the color on your legs to match your arms, it is hard to see you two in the photo due to all of the glare 🙂
